As a consequence to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, not everyone who is eligible to vote on Tuesday is going to be able to vote. This is an urgent matter to be addressed immediately -- before it is too late. We are affected as individuals, families and members of communities which have all been affected by the hurricane. It is likely that residents of areas that are without power will not have power back before Tuesday and therefore, will not be able to cast their ballots. Many are not in their homes and are not in proximity to their voting stations. In addition, it is likely that polling stations are not fully functional as a result of the devastation to many places along the Eastern Seaboard. Moreover, at this point in time, many people do not have enough gasoline to drive to the polling stations. It is imperative that everyone have an equal opportunity to vote. With lives as compromised as they are now, alternative arrangements must be made for those who are not able to vote on Tuesday.

Transportation to voting sites and/or alternative methods to vote must be made available to every registered voter the day of the election, whatever the cost.

Mandate that candidates and other political organizations adhere to: 1) only making live person-to-person calls with an option for a recipient to opt out for 8 years and 2) Prohibit unsolicited recordings unless you OPT IN to receiving such political messages.

My name is Simeon Desir , I will admit I was young and disobedient as a result I decided to get involved in drugs. I was arrested and incarcerated for 8 months I pleaded guilty and served my sentence . I was not aware that my immigration status would be compromised. On January 21. 2014 I was awoken to immigration officers who arrested me now I am detained at "HUDSON COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY". I nor my family have a criminal history my offense was done when I was 20 years old I have since learned from my mistakes. I am aware of the immigration laws however, I am NOT a criminal and I am a father, son , teacher, advocate, artist and entrepreneur. I am asking for an intervention because I feel that I entered this country as a child I was 11 years old being incarcerated is not a remedy to a situation when I have not committed subsequent crimes.

Lawrence ahrens was sentenced to 15 years for arson in the 2nd. He did not commit the crime but was considered the master mind. He had no criminal record before this, a home, a job, a family. The three who committed the crime had records, one in particular has a extensive record and will be walking the streets again before Lawrence. Nobody was hurt in this case and there were no fires. Although punishment does need to take place, 15 years was very excessive for Lawrence. The victim also had family ties to assembly men angelo santabarbra and a atf agent on the case. Lawrence had no fighting chance and was backed into a corner for many things. His lawyer even stated if it was someone without those connections he'd have way less time. Lawrence was out on bail living a law abiding life and would of benefited better from many other things. A week after Lawrence was sentenced a girl went in front of the same judge for stabbing and killing her boyfriend and got the same amount, 15 years. What is wrong with this? He was highly over prosecuted and it needs to be egknowledged. I don't condone violence but I believe in fairness. He is getting a sentence murderers get when again nobody was hurt or injured, he physically did not commit the crime and he had no record. He was highly over sentenced without a fighting chance because of all these connections. His sentenced needs to be reduced when you see murders getting that sentence and for many other reasons. Sometimes good people make bad choices. The judge even told him he is a smart man and shouldn't be where he is....but 15 yrs is too much. He would of benefitted many other ways and with a reasonable sentence.

On Sept. 23rd 2013, the Dominican Republic passed a ruling that violated human rights. The ruling will rob many Dominicans of their natural birth right. The Dominican government has literally turned it’s back on their most vulnerable citizens. Anyone that was born in D. R. of non-Dominican parents dating back to 1929 will have their citizenship revoked or they will not be granted Dominican citizenship.
