To the Charter Schools Institute: We support the application for the creation of the Arturo Toscanini Charter School in Bronx County. Schools in The Bronx are among the lowest performing anywhere in New York State, and our children deserve more opportunities for a decent education. There is a child or children in our family that might be able to benefit from the innovative program and we strongly support its creation. It is important that all children and their families have as many educational opportunities available to them as possible. Thank you for your attention.

If there is a $1.8 billion surplus, do not give it as tax breaks until all of the funds cut from Texas Public Education are restored in full. Our children are attending classes with larger numbers of students, fewer resources (materials and teaching staff) and reduced oportunities. Will businesses really want to come here if we cannot supply them with an educated workforce.

Stop Social Security Benefit Cuts! The President & Congress have to find another way to reach budget & tax agreements without impacting the nations Social Security Program.

We, the undersigned, call on the Carroll County Board of Elections to publicly support uniform, expanded early voting hours across Ohio.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure. Congressional Reform Act of 2011 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Dear President Trump, We ask you to extend mercy to Lisa Montgomery, a victim of multiple rapes, child sex trafficking, and domestic violence. Lisa was sentenced to death by a jury that was never informed of the full extent and impact of the sexual violence and physical abuse she endured. As a result of her trauma, she is now so mentally ill that she must receive multiple medications to prevent full-blown psychosis. We also ask you at a minimum to grant a stay of execution. We believe Lisa deserves a full and fair opportunity to petition the courts to stay her execution, as well as an opportunity to present comprehensive arguments to you and your administration as to why her death sentence should be commuted to life imprisonment. This cannot happen in the midst of a global pandemic. The story of Lisa’s life is worse than a nightmare. She was born with permanent brain damage caused by her mother’s drinking during pregnancy. A child of extreme poverty, she was repeatedly raped by her stepfather. She was routinely beaten and terrorized by her mother. Lisa’s mother trafficked her to men who were allowed to rape Lisa in exchange for utilities and other services. Although this was suspected or known by teachers, police, and the courts, nobody intervened to protect Lisa. This horror continued when she married her stepbrother at the urging of her mother at the age of 18. He continued the cycle of abuse, raping and beating her. Not surprisingly, this lifetime of torture exacerbated Lisa’s genetic predisposition to mental illness, and caused her to develop a dissociative disorder in addition to complex post-traumatic stress disorder. Her severe trauma and mental illness led directly to the crime for which she was convicted – the murder of a pregnant woman and the kidnapping of her child. At her trial, prosecutors used gender stereotypes against Lisa, repeatedly casting her as unfit mother and homemaker, telling jurors that she didn’t go to her children’s events, and that “[s]he didn’t cook, and [s]he didn’t clean,” and kept a “filthy home.” The prosecution trivialized the evidence of her being repeatedly raped as a child, calling it the “abuse excuse.” The lifetime of rape and sexual torture that Lisa endured is not an ‘abuse excuse.’ It was her horrific life story that the jury should have considered in deciding whether she was someone who deserved to live or die. The jury was never given that opportunity. President Trump, please consider this evidence and spare Lisa Montgomery’s life. Spending the rest of her life in prison is more than adequate punishment for this crime given Lisa’s traumatic history and mental illness.

Allow a licensed beauty professional to perform a beauty service/ privately with one client in the salon / per stylist at a time Starting as of Monday, May 4, 2020. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the state of Ohio and the local Board of Health will be followed. Our industry needs to be recognized & deemed as an essential business so we can better serve our community. Servicing one client at a time, with not more that 5 stylist and 5 clients per styling area (while wearing a mask and client with cloth mouth covering ) poses little to no risk of spreading the virus, as compared to 20 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people at restaurants picking up food.
