It's time to catch up with all the inflation that we have had in the last decade. It's time to raise the minimum wage!

This is a call to any responsible, rational minded, reasonable NRA members to pull your membership from the organization immediately in response to LaPierre's statements at his 12/21 press conference. LaPierre's much awaited response after the Sandy Hook tragedy was cold, confrontational, and unbelievable. The man blamed gun control advocates, video games, and the media with barely any mention of actual guns at all. His, and thus, the NRA's official "meaningful contribution" is to ban video game guns instead of real ones. It was a slap in the face to the victims of mass murder and their families. LaPierre argued that we should enact the immediate arming of schools across the country. Advocating what we feel is a society much akin to the old days of the Wild West, LaPierre fails to take a rational stance. The clear and simple reason, we believe, is to sell more guns and keep the arms industry growing. The United States makes up roughly 5% of the world population, yet we own 50% of the world's guns. Blaming the violent video games does not make sense. These games are played around the world, yet we have the 10th highest per capita death by gun ranking in the world. I think we can all recall that there were armed guards at Virginia Tech in 2007. Even Fort Hood, a military base, couldn't stop a single gunman before he killed 13 people and wounded 29 others. We can't stop every tragedy, there will always be ill people who will try and inflict violence upon others. However, if we ban semi-automatic weapons along with high capacity cartridges, we can limit the amount of damage that one shooter can inflict. We are calling upon those NRA members who agree with reasonable limits such as an assault weapons ban to sign this petition and withdraw your NRA membership. Tell Wayne LaPierre that enough is enough. By withdrawing your membership you can tell the NRA that the innocent victims such as those of Sandy Hook Elementary deserve better. The weapons industry and the NRA were not elected to make decisions about this issue. Let the government do their job and support an assault weapons ban. No one is asking you to give up your 2nd Amendment rights. Reasonable limitations are allowed in the bill. We must put safety before profits for the arms industry.

Don't make it about money, don't move it to a Monday. Let's honor the people that lost their lives on that tragic day by making Sept. 11 a federal holiday. I cant believe not one congressperson has been brave enough to bring this up.
