  • Legal Marijuana in New Mexico? Let the Voters Decide.
I support the lawful possession and use of marijuana in New Mexico by persons 21 years of age and older. I support Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino's bill, SJR 10, which would allow the people of New Mexico to decide whether or not our state should legalize, tax, and regulate the sale of marijuana to adults. I urge you to vote IN FAVOR of SJR 10 and allow the people of New Mexico to decide whether or not marijuana should become a legally regulated substance in our state.

  • Charles Taibi: Help fund JROTC for new equipment
Cuts to the JROTC program has caused Fort Hamilton HS to not have new equipment such as uniforms, replica drill rifles, and JROTC textbooks. Also, because of the military budget cuts we have lost an Army Instructor to teach the JROTC cadets.

  • New Yorkers Tell Walmart: Decent Pay, Not Handouts!
I was horrified to learn that instead of paying workers a decent wage, Walmart started a fundraiser asking employees to feed their hungry coworkers. This isn’t right. I call on Walmart to pay workers the wages they need to feed a family.

  • Stop prosecuting children as adults in New York State!
New York is one of two states that still prosecutes all children over the age of sixteen as adults, no matter what the crime. Sixteen year olds are still children and should be treated as such. Youth who are incarcerated with adults are likely to suffer physical and emotional abuse while in prison, and are more likely to continue to commit crimes when they are released. Given proper alternatives, youth can learn to make more responsible choices and be contributing members of society. Putting youth in adult jail doesn’t help make our society safer, it creates more adult criminals. Please change New York State laws so that no child will be prosecuted as an adult and no child will be placed in an adult prison or jail. Stop doing this to our children.
