  • Make the Medical Marijuana Program Affordable, Legalize Flower and Home Grow for Patients
    The new program is up and running with only the most expensive varieties available. Many of the 17 conditions are debilitating, and prices are so high patients, which the program was created for, cannot afford the medication promised to them. Many of the patients are low income or on a fixed income. With prices averaging a cost of $1000.00 a month, this is not affordable for most of the patients. The only way to rectify this to make it truly affordable is to legalize the least processed form and/or allow patients to home grow their medication.

  • Equal Pay for Equal Work at UM
    As its mission statement indicates, the University of Michigan recognizes an important moral and social responsibility to honor equality and fairness in the workplace. Unfortunately, with respect to the salaries of its faculty Lecturers, the University is not living up to its principles. As the University administration and Lecturers’ Employee Organization (LEO) negotiate to establish a new employment contract for 1,500 teaching Lecturers, I strongly support LEO’s demand for raising lecturer salaries based on the principle of “equal pay for equal work.”
