  • REPLACE THE BOARD AND THE SUPERINTENDENTS who continue to employ, protect and allow Kimberly Tayl...
There should be a screening process for professionals employed to educate, support and protect children with and without disabilities. Just as important, is an investigation and immediate removal process of professionals who have been proven abusers from being able to work with students in any capacity. We'd like to start with the removal of a blatant abuser of students like Kimberly Taylor. She should be forever banned from working with students in all ways, shapes and forms. We would also like law makers to implement a checks and balance system for educators who are entrusted with the care of students. Kimberly Taylor, Principal is the woman, according to this report, on the recordings abusing the disabled students. • Tomas Young - Iraq War Vet/Anti-War Activist: Our Pledge to You
BACKGROUND: In February, prominent Iraq War vet/anti-war activist and subject of Phil Donahue's documentary, Body of War (http://www.bodyofwar.com), Tomas Young, announced he is ending his nine year losing battle against unbearable, intractable chronic pain due to injuries he sustained just five days after his deployment to Iraq that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Now dependent on a feeding tube, Thomas announced that after celebrating his one year anniversary with his wife, he will begin to wean his body off the liquid nourishment and medications sustaining him and slowly "go away." Here is a link to a recent 3/21 interview with Tomas on Democracy Now: http://www.democracynow.org/2013/3/21/exclusive_dying_iraq_war_veteran_tomas Here is a link to a republication of the letter Tomas wrote to Former President George W. Bush and Former Vice President Dick Cheney on the 10th Anniversary of the Iraq War: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/tomas-young-dying-iraq-war-veteran-writes-last-letter-to-bush-and-cheney-20130320 OUR PLEDGE: Dear Tomas, As citizens of the United States and in honor of your memory, we pledge to work steadfastly to make sure we have a healthcare system that does not allow people in pain to suffer as you have been forced to suffer, and to make certain we elect public servants who do not squander American lives as the Bush administration and the congress serving at that time squandered yours. We see you. We hear you. We will not remain passive. We will not be silent. Farewell, Tomas, and thank you. The Undersigned

  • Pass these Reforms NOW #BlackLivesMatter
1.) Indict and effectively prosecute all officers involved in the murder of George Floyd. 2.) In the case in which any law enforcement officer is involved in the death or serious injury of a civilian, a special state or federal prosecutor should be assigned to investigate the incident. County prosecutors are too close to local police departments to effectively investigate their actions. 3.) Abolish qualified immunity. 4.) Fund the creation of elected independent community review board to review complaints against the police in every county. 5.) Require all police departments create neighborhood precinct captains that are elected by the neighborhoods in which they patrol. 5b.) Require precinct captains to maintain residency in the neighborhoods in which they patrol. 6. Reform police unions so they cannot block the termination or indictment of bad cops. 7. Raise the pay and training of officers to attract the best and brightest to the profession. 8. Abolish voting ID laws and voting registration purges. Expand same day registration, early voting, vote-by-mail, and make election day a national holiday. Require employers to give employees time off to vote as a matter of law. All voter suppression must end to give the public a voice in their government. The failure of democratic mechanisms is a key cause of violent riots and protests. 9. Require all police to keep on body cams during any interaction with civilians 10. Require all police, as a matter of law, to use non-lethal force in every interaction, save an active shooter situation. All police must have non-lethal tools and orders to deescalate any situation.

  • Stop the Missouri "Stand Your Ground" law
As we saw with Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis, Rekia Boyd, Mike Brown, Tamir Rice and many others, an illegitimate fear of Black people, including children, is already a justification for killing them. "Stand Your Ground" laws make it easier to get away with violence against Black people. I urge you to fight back against this deadly law and veto it when it come to your desk.
