The consideration of General David Petraeus’s potential demotion is a disgrace and an attempt to silence outspoken and respected Military Professionals who publicly disagree with political policy and dare to put the safety of the American public ahead of political agendas.
Why is this important?
Because as a recent article has stated, "those who are aware of it said they were surprised that he could be punished years after the scandal was presumably put behind him and after he pleaded guilty to mishandling classified information. No general in recent history has been demoted years after scandal swirled around him or her." This is a blatant attempt to silence individuals such as General Petraeus and Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former Chief of the Pentagon Intelligence Agency for their candid and truthful statements to the American public they dedicated their lives to serving and protecting .
