Secure the Immediate Release of Naglaa Mahmoud, Wife of Egyptian President Mohamad Morsy

Donor nations should refused to recognize Egyptian General El-Sisi and the terrorist coup. President Obama should openly regard the former president’s removal as unconstitutional and suspended military aid and demand that President Morsy’s wife, Naglaa Mahmoud, and the other hostages be released immediately.

The leaders of the coup in Egypt are not only war criminals, they are thugs and hired guns paid with our American dollars.

Not only have they detained the president without any charges, but have kidnapped his wife and close associations. The United States has stopped short of calling for their release. Although the United States can do little about the violent protest occurring in Egypt now, it can suspend financial aid to the Egyptian army and avoid repeating the same mistakes that it made in other times in American history by supporting removal of freely elected governments.

Why is this important?

The July 2013 military coup in Egypt and the kidnapping of a democratically-elected president and his wife represents a critical setback for democratic progress in the region and the world. If the United States is committed to democracy and respect for the rule of law, it will insist that Fatah El-Sisi and his tyrannical cohorts act in accordance with the democratic process, release all the political prisoners, stop the violence and the use of force currently being exerted without regard for human rights and modern diplomacy.
In addition, we ask that all military aid be halted.
