To: Claire McCaskill, Senator

Senator Claire McCaskill, please keep Social Security cuts OUT of budget discussions!

Keep Social Security the way it is; do not let budget problems cause Chained CPI to seem like a better fix than raising taxes on higher-income Americans. Social Security recipients need every cent they receive for their living expenses. Chained CPI would lead to higher costs of all welfare programs because Social Security recipients would then qualify for food stamps, housing assistance, etc.

Why is this important?

As a Missourian with a disability whose parents and in-laws also need every cent of the Social Security checks received, we are asking Senator McCaskill to keep Chained CPI calculations out of budget discussions. Raise taxes on the 1 percent instead of taking food and medicine from those who are elderly and disabled!
