Sewage Treatment Plant

To prevent the building of the Oronoco Sewage Treatment Plant on Lester Reese's land.

Why is this important?

There are concerns regarding the building of the Sewage Treatment Plant on Lester Reese's land because of the location. First concern is that the location is prime real estate for houses and the land is zoned for residential not commercial/industrial. It is a beautiful area of Oronoco that in the future could benefit the growth of Oronoco by bringing in future residents and increase the value of the land by building middle to higher class houses. Second concern is the expense to such a small community. It has been stated in the minutes that each house hold in Oronoco would have to pay a hook up fee of approx. $13,000.00 to hook into this faciltiy, when Oronoco has the option to connect to Rochester or Pine Island which would decrease this expense for the Oronoco residents to approx. $900.00 per house hold. This is approx. 2 million dollar project that could be put on hold until the town of Oronoco has a greater population in need of this type of faciltiy. Third concern is the site and smell. This land is located at the entrance of Oronoco, is this really what you want visitors to see and smell first when they enter your town?
