Social Security & Cost of Living vs. Budget Deficit
Dear Legislator,
As the President and Congress debate methods to lower the federal budget deficit, please keep in mind the following issues:
1. Social Security is not a cause of the budget deficit.
2. Cost of living calculations must remain standard across the financial sector of our society, including across all government agencies. Do not make a different system of calculation of the cost of living for just Social Security.
3. Any change to the method of cost of living calculation will affect those who need their Social Security checks the most. Please vote against any proposal to change the method of calculating the cost of living for the purpose of Social Security payments.
4. If the Social Security system is of concern, regarding its solvency, there are ways that the Social Security system can be made solvent past the current projected date in the late 1930s. One way is to make it more equal from a payroll tax standpoint. The maximum income subject to Social Security payroll taxes should be increased to at least 500,000 dollars.

Why is this important?
This petition is intended to inform our members of Congress regarding fair and equitable calculation methods of the Cost-of-Living increases for Social Security. fv
