Social Security Isn't An Entitlement Program
Social Security is paid for entirely by individuals and businesses. It's not an entitlement program funded with the general tax that supports big government. When it becomes necessary, increase the cap on income to sustain the Social Security Trust Fund. The federal government does not contribute one penny to Social Security but they wrote the law such that they could borrow its excess funds. And what the government people are jumping up and down about is the fact that they have borrowed from Social Security and now have to pay back what they borrowed because those monies are now needed to make some of the payments. They don't want to do this, Instead, they want to change Social Security. They want to welch on their debt. I can't do that with my credit card company and the federal government can't do that to us. Federal government: pay back your debt and stop with the smoke screen. And, after you make it whole, don't borrow from the Social Security Trust Fund ever again.
Why is this important?
I've watched the politicians claim that the Social Security Trust Fund is going belly up while hiding the fact that Congress has systematically looted the Fund over the years because the law allowed them to "borrow" from the Fund.
