Social Security Should Not Be A Bargaining Chip

Social Security is actuarially sound for the at least another decade and can be sustained beyond that by a modest increase in the maximum wage level used.

Social Security should not be a bargaining chip in the current austerity economics race to the bottom that the white house and congress are engaged in.

Please do not erode the nation's safety net to satisfy the political expediency of the moment.

Why is this important?

The Obama administration is allowing the Republican minority to dictate the terms of the current debate. The current threat, proposed by Obama!, is to reduce Social Security by a subtle adjustment of the Cost of Living calculation.
