A hugely expensive new public works building project has been approved by three supervisors without regard to actual final costs and disregarding the well-founded concerns of Solebury residents. We demand a true and complete accounting be made public and that the Board respectfully and faithfully acts in accord with the voice of the Solebury citizens they serve.
Why is this important?
On May 5 the Solebury Board of Supervisors pledged to not proceed with the funding of a new public works building if bids exceeded the $2.7 million authorized. Yet a narrow majority of the supervisors voted to proceed despite a bid that is already $122,000 over budget for a loosely defined project that is reduced in scale and neglects hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional costs that Solebury taxpayers will be forced to pay for. This is not financially responsible nor is it truthful.
