Stay On Course: Remove Chemical Weapons From Syria

It seems very likely that many in Syria and elsewhere - those with political ambitions or other agendas - do not want peace in Syria and will attempt to disrupt the chemical weapons removal process, perhaps by using chemical weapons. In anticipation, United Nations negtiators and others overseeing the process can and should develop a plan of action should this problem arise, to prevent the knee-jerk reaction from shutting the process down.

Why is this important?

Historically, any peacemaking process is easy to disrupt.. One incident involving a small group or individual could bring the chemical weapons removal process to a halt as accusations fly and participants retreat, especially if the incident were to involve the use of chemical weapons, Successful removal of chemical weapons from Syria is important for the well-being of the Syrian people, the region and the world.
