Stop streaming ICE recruitment ads NOW!
Millions of people in the U.S. subscribe to Spotify to stream music, podcasts, and books. What those subscribers don’t sign up for is offensive government propaganda recruiting them to do Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s inhumane and cruel bidding.
But that’s just what everyday Americans found themselves subject to when Spotify, along with other major streaming platforms, agreed to run ICE recruitment ads that use inflammatory and dehumanizing language. It is a betrayal of their customer base and goes against the values that the company boasts.
When faced with backlash, Spotify decided to ignore its listeners and instead align themselves with their advertiser—this time, the Trump administration. It’s capitulation at its worst. And we refuse to listen to it.
Reverse the decision to stream ICE recruitment ads and put policies in place to prevent this from happening again!
Why is this important?
The Trump administration has funneled billions of dollars into these dystopian ICE recruitment ads. Meanwhile, cities are being terrorized by ICE agents who are running rampant with abuses of power, snatching people from the street and from their homes with no due process or dignity.
It’s disgraceful.
And now Spotify and other streaming platforms are letting ICE use the platform that people pay for entertainment and connection as ICE’s recruitment tactic. It’s intrusive, offensive, and disturbing.
Spotify has doubled down on allowing the ads on their platform, telling subscribers to simply mark the ad with a “thumbs down.”
We need to remind Spotify who they are beholden to—not Trump, not ICE, but us.
Add your name to the petition and send a clear message that, unless they stop running ICE's recruitment ads and update their policies to prevent this from happening again, we're tuning out.
