Stop the Abortion Ban
HB 2321 is a blatant, unconstitutional attempt to prohibit abortions when the Supreme Court has held that states may not do so. No only does the bill prohibit abortions unconstitutionally early, it also provides no exceptions for survivors of rape or incest. This bill is meant as a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, was introduced on the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision, and could lead to an expensive and prolonged legal battle for Virginia.
Every pregnant woman’s circumstances are different and many things can go wrong in a pregnancy. Women seeking these abortions may be facing extremely complicated pregnancies and must have every medical option — including ending the pregnancy — available to them to consider in consultation with their doctor and family.
Please oppose this attempt to take the decision about abortion away from women and their doctors. A woman’s doctor must be able to provide the care she needs for her health.

Why is this important?
It is outrageous that on the same day Congressional Republicans abandoned their radical abortion ban proposal for being too extreme, Virginia Republicans are pursuing an even more dangerous version. Virginians need leaders who focus on policies to support families' economic security, not interfere in private decisions that should be between a woman, her family, her faith, and her doctor.
Virginia voters have repeatedly rejected these sort of extreme attacks on women's health. This abortion ban was too radical for Washington and Virginia women can't stand for it here.
