Stop the Wichita City Council

Shall charter ordinance 235, entitled "A CHARTER ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING TERMS AND AMENDING TERM LIMITS FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND MAYOR AND REPEALING SECTIONS 8 AND 9 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE 226" take effect?

Why is this important?

The Wichita City Council wants to extend their 2 term limit to 3 terms. That's 12 years instead of 8. They want to add another term of 4 years to this. They are voting on this Tuesday, December 10th.

Let them know what you think! Is this a bad thing? Do we really want the same people in control for 12 long years? Is it a good thing so they can finish up with projects they started that are long term? How will this change the way our City Council is run if we have the same Council and Mayor for 12 years?

Here's the motion for Tuesday:

Charter Ordinance Amending the Terms and Term Limitations of Mayor and City Council Members and Repealing Sections 8 and 9 of Charter Ordinance 226.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Place the charter ordinance on first reading (!!) and authorize all necessary signatures.
