Stop toll lanes highway widening proposal in Maryland

The project to widen I-495 and I-270 to create toll lanes operated by a private for-profit partnership with two Australian corporations must not be approved until the proponents release the final Environmental Impact Statement and a reasonable period of time is given for public review of it. Also the project is a fiscal, environmental and operational disaster (will not reduce congestion, its purported goal).

Why is this important?

The project would induce demand by motorists, increasing car exhaust emissions (greenhouse gases) which cause global warming. We are in a climate crisis and we must cut back on burning of fossil fuels, not increase it. The project would adversely impact wetlands and increase runoff. The toll charges for motorists would be exorbitant.
