Independent university studies have shown that TSA body scanners can emit up to 10 times the amount of radiation that TSA claims and there haven't been any long-term studies on the effects of these machines on a fetus. Families traveling with children under the age of 12 use metal detectors. TSA allows them to bypass the body scanners and pat downs. Give pregnant women this same right.
Why is this important?
While traveling in the US, families with children under the age of 12 are now allowed to use metal detectors without additional screening, but pregnant women are still forced to either enter body scanners or endure a pat down. TSA should allow pregnant women to walk through metal detectors without being forced to go through additional, invasive screenings.
