Symbol of peace or foreign influenced propaganda?
Symbol of peace or foreign influenced propaganda? We, people in the United States, need to know the truth.
Why is this important?
This petition is with regards to two statues placed on land of the United States. One in Eisenhower Park in Nassau County, New York, and the other one in a public park in Glendale, California. Those are statues of so-called "comfort women" of South Korea. According to the inscription, those statues are supposed to be peace statutes which memorialize Asian women and girls who were held as "sex slaves" by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.
However, according to the government of Japan, after their investigation, they found nothing indicating that women were forcibly rounded up to work as comfort women or as "sex slaves." The only orders and directives found in the search were aimed to protect the rights of women such as:
-Army Momorandum 2197 issued on March 4, 1938,which explicitly prohibits recruiting methods that fraudulently emloy the army's name or that can be classified as abduction, those employing such methods would be punished.
-Home Affairs Ministry Directive No. 77 issued February 18, 1938, stating that recruiting of comfort women must be in compliance with International Law and prohibiting the enslavement or abduction of women.
-Home Affairs Ministry Directive No. 136 issued on November 8, 1938, which orders that only women who's age is 21 and older and is already professionally engaged in the trade may be recruited as comfort women.
Now, when we look into records of the United States as to "comfort women" of South Korea, there is a US Army interrogator's report which clearly states that, "a 'comfort girl' is nothing more than a prostitute or 'professional camp follower' attached to the Japanese Army for the benefit of the soldiers."
I think we all agree that, the truth must be told in this country. Are those statues are truly symbol of peace or some sort of foreign influenced propaganda?
The question needs to be answered, and until we learn the truth, those statues need to be removed from American public.
Thank you.
