TATTOO SHOPS
allow tattoo facilities to reopen by private appointment only, one client per artist no visitors or walkins…. we are already governed by a higher standard than most businesses and even at the reduced capacity, we pose little to no risk for the spread of this virus compared to grocery stores, restaurants, gyms etc. ....all artists are trained in blood borne pathogens and cross contamination. masks and gloves will be worn by artists and clients. hospital grade soaps and disinfectants are used for client prep, sanitizing, sterilizing and cleaning akin to dentist and doctors offices.. this is no longer a party atmosphere as once perceived. my office personally will be acting above an beyond and policy or procedure the state will impose.
Why is this important?
as a shop owner for 21 years my opinion is that the closing of licensed tattoo facilities opens up the very real threat for wanna be artists, otherwise known as scratchers, to practice the arts from home. (which is illegal)…..while this has been going on for years in the area where I conduct business, the longer we are forced to remain closed the more of a chance there is for a larger breeding ground for other medical problems such as staph infections, HIV, and or hepatitis, just to name a few. believe it or not, the tattoo industry is thriving and if people want the work done bad enough they will seek it out no matter where it is they get it from.
