To: Rep. James McGovern (MA-2)
Tell Rep. Jim McGovern to avoid a nuclear confrontation with Russia
We, the undersigned, claim that no politician on Earth has the right to play chicken with nuclear war – in this case, over Ukraine.
Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev warns of a potential nuclear confrontation between the USA and Russia over Ukraine. “A war of this kind would inevitably lead to a nuclear war,” he said.
On December 4, 2014 the US Congress, including Rep. Jim McGovern, approved a resolution (H. Res. 758) that calls for extensive US military and intelligence aid to the Ukraine, and widespread punitive actions against Russia. Some have called this resolution a “virtual declaration of war against Russia.” An official of the Kennedy administration has compared the current situation to that of “another Cuban missile crisis.”
We ask Rep. Jim McGovern to reverse his vote on H. Res. 758, and to state his opposition to provoking a potential nuclear confrontation with Russia, and his support for an anti-nuclear peace treaty with Russia to solve the Ukraine issue by non-nuclear peaceful means.

Why is this important?
We are concerned that the majority in the US Congress are rushing headlong into a nuclear confrontation with Russia. We wish to avert a nuclear war with Russia.
