Tell Democratic leaders: Choice is essential

Dear House Minority Leader Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Schumer, and Chairman Rep. Ben Ray Lujan,
The freedom of people over their own bodies, to choose when or if to become parents, is a fundamental human right. We, as Democrats, are the ones who are supposed to fight for what's right, not what is easy. This is not about what a political candidate may or may not do in a hypothetical situation of unplanned pregnancy (whether they own a uterus or not) or their personal feelings about abortion, this is about who has the right to choose: those people experiencing the pregnancy, or politicians playing doctor. We, as Democrats, believe in a person's right to choose, and we should not be supporting any candidate who believes that people who become pregnant should have that right taken from them. This is not about a "big tent" or "litmus test," this is about basic human rights. And basic human rights should never be up for debate, or used as a political bargaining chip. We must, as Democrats, do better and demand better of all our candidates. We ask that you withdraw support, both financial and influential, for any Democratic candidate who does not support a person's right to choose.

Why is this important?

We must hold our allies accountable, and demand that the leaders of our party do better.
