Tell the Uvalde school police Chief Pete Arredondo to resign!

As more details around this tragic shooting come to light, the less any of the details supplied by police seem to make sense. The police provided several, inaccuracies, including a falsified timeline of how quickly officer responded once on the scene, how the shooter entered the elementary school, and the description of the shooter's military attire.

We should all be shocked, appalled and disgusted by the actions of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department, but particularly by the inaction of Uvalde school police Chief Pete Arredondo.

Given all that happened, and a potential investigation by Congress into how the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department took action, Pete Arredondo should resign.

Why is this important?

Families and residents have already called for firing Arredondo and overhauling the police department. When residents needed them the most, school district officials and the police were nowhere to be found. They failed to do their job. Recently, new details emerged sharing the repeated 911 calls made by children from inside the classroom where the shooter released rounds of bullets as police officers stood in the hallway and waited.

Let this be a reminder that we need to divest from corrupt police departments and pour resources into our communities. We need police to take accountability for their wrongdoing in this tragedy, right now. The families who lost their loved ones deserve peace and justice.
