We are writing to ask you to oppose House Bill 4588, which would ban abortion starting at 20 weeks. This ban would come before a point in a woman's pregnancy where she may discover serious health complications.
Every pregnancy is different, and legislators cannot presume to know all the personal circumstances surrounding the private, medical decision to undergo an abortion.
A woman should not be denied basic health care or the right to a safe and legal procedure because some politicians do not trust her and her doctor with the ability to make the best decision. We urge you to oppose House Bill 4588.
Why is this important?
Right now, politicians at the West Virginia statehouse are attempting to ban abortion before the point in a pregnancy where a woman may discover serious health complications.
Every pregnancy is different, and a woman and her doctor -- not politicians on the House Judiciary Committee -- should have the ability to make the best decision for her personal circumstances.
Politicians should not endanger West Virginia women by blocking access to safe and legal medical procedures.
Tell our representatives to keep their hands off our reproductive health care!
Act now against House Bill 4588.
