Tell Westminster Presbyterian Church to support an International Loss and Damage Fund
This campaign has ended.
As the highest per-capita greenhouse gas emitter in the world, it is our moral responsibility as a nation to provide relief/assistance to other nations suffering climate change related losses and damages. It’s time that we live up to our moral responsibility and support the global movement to create an international loss and damage fund.
By signing this petition, I hereby call on Westminster Presbyterian Church to endorse this Loss and Damage Statement and, by doing so, join the over 150 organizations worldwide who also support the creation of an International Loss and Damage Fund. I also urge Westminster Presbyterian Church to send this endorsement to its political representatives in Minnesota.

Why is this important?
Human-induced climate change is causing more frequent extreme weather events around the globe. Unfortunately, poorer countries like Mozambique, Bangladesh, Guatemala, and Somalia – countries that have contributed the least to global greenhouse gas emissions – are disproportionately affected by severe weather loss and damages and are unable to cover the costs themselves.
For decades, coalitions of island nations and least developed countries have been advocating for the creation of an international loss and damage fund to assist poorer countries with losses and damages caused by severe weather events such as cyclones, droughts, fires, and flooding, but wealthier countries, including the United States, have continuously blocked these efforts.
