Tell Your Members of Congress to Prioritize Child Nutrition
I urge you to support children’s nutrition programs. Programs like school breakfast and lunch and summer meals programs for children are crucial to the economic and health security of families across the country. Please show your support for these vital programs before they expire at the end of September.
Why is this important?
The Child Nutrition Act was originally passed in 2010 and will expire on September 30th if not reauthorized by Congress. The act ensures funding for critical programs like WIC, summer meals for kids, reduced price and free lunch and breakfast programs at schools, and more.
Too many working moms are struggling to put food on the table for their kids. In fact, in 2013, 15.8 million children in the United States lived in a food insecure household. It's a huge weight off our shoulders if we know our kids will have access to healthy snacks and meals while we are at work.
We need to improve childhood nutrition, reduce hunger, and help working families ensure that their children get the healthy food they need.
Urge your Members of Congress to prioritize child nutrition to make sure all kids have a chance to thrive.
