What needs to happen is the entire population of the United States show to the elected officials, current and future, that we will no longer have our lives stolen by the people who are elected to their positions.
The current electoral process needs to be changed in a way that assures that the current situation never happens here again.

Why is this important?
It should be obvious. Education, interaction, implication, and participation. The importance of our governing officials, their postions and representation should be something all citizens want to be part of.
