The Scarlet Letter

In July 2011 Bobby Jindal signed into law HB 141 changing the solicitation for crime against nature (oral sex for compensation) charge from a felony to a misdemeanor no longer requiring those indicted from registering as sex offenders. However, this law is not retroactive to the 400 people still on the sex offender registry for this crime. There are no children or force and no victim, yet these women are put in a class with pedophiles and rapist which leaves them struggling every day due to their status as sex offenders. Most of these crimes are over 15 years old yet they are still forced to register. This takes away time and money that could be spent monitoring "real sex offenders".

Why is this important?

That the LA HB 141 be made retroactive.
