Traffic deaths in Washington, DC have increased every year since 2015, when Mayor Muriel Bowser announced her Vision Zero initiative to accomplish zero traffic fatalities by 2024.
The conditions at 34th and Benning Road NE are consistently and visibly dangerous. As a teenager, my mother was struck at this same intersection. With the clear display of inequality in access, development, and quality shopping options for residents East of the River, it is our government's responsibility to provide safe roads.
