We, the undersigned, registered Truckee voters, are concerned citizens who urge our TDPUD board members to reject the nuclear reactor project, as it does not meet the goals of our Town’s 100% Renewable Resolution and does not reflect the values of our community.
Why is this important?
On April 4th the TDPUD board will vote on whether to enter into an agreement to obtain power from the Small Modular Reactor (nuclear) project known as the Carbon Free Power Project (CFPP). The end result of this project will be that TDPUD will be a part owner and contracted customer of a nuclear power plant that will be constructed outside of Idaho Falls in 2023. There is no effective method of storing spent nuclear waste. The waste generation and non-renewable nature of this project is in direct contrast with the Town of Truckee 100% Renewable Resolution, which calls for 100% renewable electricity, town-wide, by 2030.
