UC Davis petition for indoor graduations only. Cap and Gown refunds.
Today’s graduation was a mess that resulted in students and family passing out due to heat exhaustion with the only water available to the public being inaccessible, $3. It should have been free.
100s is average weather for Davis in June, there should have been better planning. This was NOT “unforeseen.”
Graduations (undergraduate and graduate) should be held inside, ALWAYS. For those who were not able to get their name called today, cap and gown refunds (bought or rented) should be distributed as a reparation for having a memorable day (especially for first generation college students) ruined by the university.

Why is this important?
Some parents took unpaid time off and/or travelled via planes or cars only to be put in danger. A Sunday graduation is not enough as many must return home by tonight. Only a few privileged students and families will be able to attend. Their money and time was wasted and this is not okay.
