Make food more affordable, accessible, and safe for American families!

Americans are concerned about the cost and access to nutritious food. But despite Trump and RFK Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again” rallying cry, little has been done during the second Trump administration to improve food quality in the United States.

You can’t separate food from health. The United States Department of Agriculture is responsible for ensuring the safety of our food, supporting the people who produce it, and helping families afford nutritious options.

Instead, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has faced the largest cuts in the history of the program, with 4.3 million people and 770,000 children losing access to critical food assistance. USDA research staff and cuts to roles that detect, prevent, and eliminate threats like screwworm have left our livestock vulnerable to infestation. And the government is trying to roll back critical clean water protections, pesticide reviews, and environmental safeguards.

Enough! The Trump administration and USDA must put Americans first and commit to ensuring everyday families have access to the nutritious food we deserve!

Why is this important?

Trump campaigned on the affordability of groceries, claiming he would reduce the cost of food “on Day One.” And while the average cost of eggs are down, common household staples like orange juice, ground beef, sandwich break, and chicken have actually gone up. And families paid hundreds of dollars more for groceries during Trump’s first year in office.

Not to mention the Trump administration has slashed SNAP benefits, putting millions of individuals and families into food insecurity.

And following its sweeping cuts to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the number of consumer complaints about meat, poultry, and egg products skyrocketed—increasing by nearly 40%. The cuts occurred around the same time that the USDA dissolved the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods and the National Advisory on Meat and Poultry Inspection, and rolled back Salmonella standards for raw poultry.

The Trump administration is making our food more expensive, harder to get, and less safe. Sign the petition to demand the USDA do its job and make food more affordable, accessible, and safe!
