Use Economic Pressure to Change State Gun Laws

We urge professional/business/academic/cultural groups to choose sites for meetings and events in states with common-sense gun laws. Such states (e.g., California, Massachusetts, Washington) have half the number of gun-violence deaths per 100,000 population than states that lack such laws (e.g., Florida, Texas, Arizona).

Why is this important?

A boycott movement has begun as major companies are cutting ties with the NRA in response to the change in climate created by the passion of the surviving children of Parkland. Progressive groups can support this effort by taking their conventions and events to states where common-sense gun laws facilitate safety. I have not been personally affected by the issue other than as a mother/grandmother horrified by the gun-violence carnage in the U.S.
