Veteran Homelessness
The Department of Veteran Affairs is cutting funding for community based programs providing therapeutic services to veterans suffering homelessness , addiction and mental health disorders. Stop the cuts and order the VA staff in Tampa to respect the needs of our most vulnerable veteran.
Why is this important?
Homeless veteran services are being cut across the nation. The Baltimore Station is a small non profit that provides residential treatment for homeless veterans. We are one of many non profits across the country having our capacity reduced by the VA. Community based services have proven to be the most effective and least expensive service providers in the VA system. The VA has provided no rationale for these cuts, nor have they involved the providers in any collaborative effort to fix whatever problems they perceive to exist. Someone has to speak up for this vulnerable population.
