Vets Stand United

Dear Representative Jimmy Panetta ,

Human rights are the foundation of a just and equitable society. They affirm that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves dignity, respect, and fairness. Yet, systemic discrimination, exclusion, and violence continue to harm countless communities across our nation. I am urging you to take meaningful action to address these injustices and uphold the principles of equality and compassion.

Immigrant rights are human rights. Immigrants enrich our country in countless ways, yet they often endure harmful policies, family separations, and barriers to basic resources. It is imperative to enact comprehensive reforms that reflect fairness and humanity, ensuring that immigrants are treated with the respect they deserve.

Transgender individuals serving in our military embody courage and devotion. Their contributions to our nation’s defense deserve recognition and protection. Discriminatory policies against transgender troops undermine their service and dishonor their sacrifices. I urge you to support measures that guarantee their rights and affirm their value within our armed forces.

As a decision-maker, you have the power to champion policies that uphold the inherent dignity of every person, regardless of their nationality, identity, or role in society. I urge you to lead with courage and compassion by supporting legislation that ensures human rights, immigrant rights, and protections for transgender troops. Together, we can build a nation that truly reflects the values of justice, equity, and respect for all.

Thank you for your leadership and commitment to these critical issues.

Sincerely,
Yamile Tellez-Solis 1st Birgade Combat Team 10th mountain division

Why is this important?

Human rights are the cornerstone of a just and equitable society. They ensure that every individual, irrespective of their background, is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. Yet, countless communities still face systemic discrimination, exclusion, and violence. It is our collective responsibility to stand up for these rights and demand action from our leaders.

Immigrant rights are human rights. Immigrants contribute immensely to the fabric of our nation, yet they often face unjust policies, separation from their families, and lack of access to basic resources. We must advocate for comprehensive reforms that prioritize compassion and fairness.

Transgender troops, who serve courageously to defend our nation, deserve the same respect and protections as every other service member. Their dedication and bravery should never be undermined by discriminatory policies or prejudice. Standing up for their rights is not just about inclusion—it’s about honoring their invaluable contributions.

By uniting our voices, we can urge the US Congress to enact meaningful policies that uphold the principles of peace and equality for all. Let’s champion the rights of every human being, regardless of their nationality, identity, or role in society. Together, we can create a world where everyone is treated with the dignity they deserve.
