Walking shouldn't be deadly

America needs safer, more equitable streets. Co-sponsor the Complete Streets Act of 2019 (S.2077/H.R.3663) to make sure that everyone who uses public streets can do so safely.

Why is this important?

The United States has become an incredibly deadly place to go for a walk, bike ride, or drive because we've designed our roads to prioritize high-speed vehicles over people. Over the last decade, nearly 50,000 people were struck and killed while walking—the elderly, people of color, and low-income communities bore the biggest burden.

The piecemeal approach to safer streets at the state and local level isn't enough; we need Congress to make a powerful statement about the need to design streets for everyone by passing a strong, binding Complete Streets policy at the federal level. No more excuses. No more status quo. It’s time to address the epidemic of traffic fatalities. Urge your senators and representative to sponsor the Complete Streets Act of 2019.
