Providence's West End Supports the Community Safety Act
It's time to pass the Community Safety Act! Call Bryan Principe and then come watch the vote on June 1st!
Why is this important?
Dear Neighbor,
As you may know, the Community Safety Act goes up for a vote with City Council on June 1st. This ordinance helps keep patrons and community members safer in a number of ways and enjoys overwhelming support from residents on the West Side of Providence and in Federal Hill, including by city council member Bryan Principe, and several endorsements by businesses and community groups on the West Side. A small group of neighbors and committed citizens is asking community members from the West Side and Federal Hill neighborhoods to publicly “sign on” for their support of this important legislation. The names and text of this letter will be delivered to Councilman Principe and the West Broadway Neighborhood Association (WBNA) board prior to June 1st.
Dear WBNA Board and Councilman Principe,
We, the undersigned, would like to publically announce our support of the Community Safety Act (CSA). We do so because we believe:
● The tenants of the CSA work to keep all community members safer within our homes, schools, and businesses.
● The CSA works to improve relationships between community members and the public safety officers charged to protect and serve us.
● The CSA is good for business, in that it allows a vibrant and diverse community of people within our neighborhoods to work and conduct their business here, ultimately keeping us all both safe and thriving economically.
● The CSA works to change biased policing practices and excessive incarceration which undermine our democracy and the economic stability of our communities.
Please let this letter serve as a public document that shows the overwhelming support this legislation receives from Providence residents and businesses.
We look forward to your continued support of the CSA and your vote to pass the bill on June 1st.
Signed,
