West Texas supports the Farm Bill 2023. Family farms are the backbone of America. Family Farms was first started with the pilgrims when they came to America. It is a traditional way of life that is fast disappearing in our country. Family farms is a way for the community to get local food items that are far better in quality than items that have been shipped for long distances. This results in food safety as well with less contamination. Family farms are being forced into bankruptcy with the high prices of operating expenses. It is difficult to compete with large farming corporations who are buying up all the farmland. These large corporations are often unsafe to the public as sanitary guidelines and requirements are not being met. This is evidenced by the many recalls of produce that has bacteria and ecoli contaminations.
