Impose a 100% tax on all television political commercials. If corporations and unions feel that they can buy our votes, make them financially support the government. This is a win-win proposal. Either we will be subjected to fewer television political advertisements, or our government will see a large influx of revenue. Balance the budget by making those attempting to influence the elections pay to support the government.
Why is this important?
Now that the Supreme Court has subjected us all to unlimited campaign donations with its Citizens United vs FEC decision, we are bombarded with ridiculous levels of television advertising. The 2012 Presidential election saw over $800 million spent alone, this does not even include congressional elections at federal and state levels. Lets use this money for our country, not annoying political advertisements.
