Stop considering Mandatory Minimum Sentencing in New Jersey and keep the Balance in our Justice System and don't waste taxpayer dollars.
Why is this important?
Mandatory Minimum Sentencing takes the balance out of our Justice System by putting the power of the charge and the sentencing into the Office of the Prosecutor. It does not take into consideration people who are intellectually or emotionally challenged, or people, including VETS, with PTSD or worse. It does not consider people with Autism, no matter at what level or functionality. It does not allow the Judge to consider any of the circumstances, but treats each case as a "one-size-fits-all" as if they are all the same. They also waste taxpayer dollars with a cost of $48,000 per person per year of incarceration.
