$25.8 million bonus from CMS to Oregon

Representative Dembrow has submitted HB 2922 An Act for an Affordable Health Care Plan for All Oregon which will provide for government funding to cover everyone for all services provided by licensed care providers. It will relieve families, state and local budgets, public and private institutions of the burden of health care costs which are crowding out funds for essential services. In order to demonstrate how public funding will impact our public and personal budgets we need a study to examine a range of funding alternatives and their economic effects. Rep. Dembrow will introduce LC 3541 to the legislature to fund the study. It should receive full funding from the performance bonus money. Less than 1% would be required to fund a $250,000 study. Please urge the Governor and Legislature to endorse funding the study.

Why is this important?

Oregon received $25.8 million from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a reward for enrolling children in its Medicaid program CHIP. The money is available for whatever purposes the Governor and Legislature choose. The people of Oregon should have some input on how the money is spent.
