Residents were traumatized by Sandy, information was slow in coming. So many were displaced, hard to get information to them all. People couldn't get to their homes for weeks and then only by Police Escort. Many effected retired and or elderly.
Now, 18 months later, the residents are getting a feel for what they have
to do. To protect their best interests, fix/rebuild their homes and move
forward. Many settled claims. ALL "assumed" they got paid fairly. Yet, I
have been following public adjusters, who are getting homeowners, already told they were paid fairly, more money. One homeowner wasn't paid for 3 rooms left out of their claim.
These homeowners need time and are just finding the resources', to help themselves. The State, FEMA could have been much better at getting information out and should be willing to side on the resident's (taxpayers)favor!
90 days minimum would be a HUGE help!
