Keep fracking out of North Carolina!

Drilling for shale gas and hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, have contaminated drinking water sources and wells, and have caused air pollution and fractured communities in the states where they are occurring. A variety of health impacts to people and animals have been reported near shale gas development.

In North Carolina, the drinking water sources for millions, including hundreds of thousands of well users, could be at risk. We, the undersigned, urge you to reinstate the permanent ban on fracking and horizontal drilling for shale gas in North Carolina and to continue the ban on underground toxic waste injection.

Why is this important?

Fracking continues to poison drinking water across the country. Already oil and gas companies have leased over 8,000 acres of land in North Carolina in preparation of fracking. We still have the chance to stand up for our clean drinking water and keep fracking out of the state by urging our elected officials to pass a permanent ban on fracking.

We know that it will take a massive effort to counter the oil and gas industry, so we've launched this effort to get 50,000 people to speak out. Please sign and spread the world so we can join together in support of keeping NC Frack-Free!
