72 hour mandated hold on overdoses

As of last year, there were 129 overdoses daily in the U.S. People could go to the hospital, get Narcan or something else, and be released to the street to overdose again or potentially die. The health care workers can't legally stop them or hold them even though they are hurting themselves.

If these same people cut their wrists or took a handful of pills, they would be held for attempted suicide and they would not be able to leave until they were evaluated.

If you look up the definition between overdose and attempted suicide there is no difference. Just a different way to kill yourself.

With a mandated 72 hour hold, loved ones and friends can petition the court for emergency placement of the loved one to a rehab facility.

No police search, no trying to find them, take them to a doctor for evaluation, saving time and money for the state and family.

Please stand up for those who can't fight and have given up. They may be trapped with no other way out but your love and support to fight for them.

Drug addiction, especially heroin, is affecting everyone, either personally, through a friend, or because of the crime it brings. It is an epidemic that affects every town in America. It is costing millions of dollars in revenue to maintain the "As is protocol."

With a 72 hour hold followed by "Casey law" (the ability to petition our court to send our loved one to rehab for up to a year), we can and would save millions in spending.

Why is this important?

My daughter has been on the street since she was 14. She is now 28, We have tried to get her into rehab and we were close one time. Her pimp showed up (crossing state lines) bearing a gun. They have both been arrested, with over 17 counts of prostitution and soliciting, all to no avail All charges were dropped. My daughter was found naked wrapped around a telephone pole one time, also. They pumped her stomach and sent her on her way. There are over 129 overdoses a day. Please help me help those who are out there and out of control. This is our problem, not just mine.
