Two Nobel Peace Prize laureates recently declared, "The war on drugs ... has become a war on women," pointing to the correlation between the rise in femicides and US military aid to Honduras and Guatemala over the last decade. Perhaps peace talks for a war on drugs coupled with immigration reform may resolve issues cited in the article "How the Drug Trade Fuels Femicide in Central America" by Edward Fox
Why is this important?
Femicides in the "Northern Triangle" of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala 2002-2011 are part of the social costs for the war on drugs as well as a black market engine to be addressed with immigration reform. Perhaps a war on poverty may serve women, and minorities of the Americas more humanely. Perhaps peace talks for a war on drugs may address immigration issues.
