A Failure to Lead

We have duly elected Members of the US House and Senate to what we expected to be leadership positions for which We the People would pay them for their leadership. As we approach the final days of 2012, these elected persons (not leaders) have failed to perform their duties especially with regard to the "fiscal cliff" that they had earlier created. They would appear to be incapable of resolving this and other issues with the broad interest of the country at stake. They have failed to perform.

I propose that we cut their pay by 50% effective January 1, 2013 if they fail to develop a workable resolution to the "fiscal cliff" issue and cut it again by another 50% if no resolution is achieved by January 8, 2013.

Perhaps our actions are only "symbolic" but I think We need to send a message that their lack of performance, their lack of ability to consider the economic status of the entire country vs. their own self-centered ideology(s), constitutes a failure to perform their responsibilities for which they should receive a significant pay cut.

Why is this important?

The US Congress and the White House set-up a series of tax cuts and budget adjustments that would go into effect on or about January 1, 2013. As we approach that date, both "leadership" bodies have FAILED to LEAD and would rather talk about ideology vs. create "wise" solutions to this issue.
