This is a call for all elected officials to make public statements declaring their intention to stand up for those who are targeted by their fellow Americans given the recent events following the election of President-Elect Donald Trump. Republican or Democrat, we who've signed this petition believe our elected leaders need to demonstrate a public commitment to protecting everyone who lives in our great country from they type of harassment and violence that this campaign implicitly and explicitly condoned.
Why is this important?
There have been multiple reports of children, teens, and adults being verbally and/or physically abused or harassed since President-Elect Trump won the election. We believe our leaders need to cast aside their political agendas and stand together against this sort of behavior for the good of the country. It's time to publicly state an intention to stand up for those being targeted and vow to protect those who can't protect themselves.
