Why is our Congress so dysfunctional, polarized, and stuck on ideological principles? We need to reengineer some principles where we have strayed:
Complete transparency in campaign financing;
Redistricting of states by independent commissions, NOT the party in power;
Independents voting in all primaries;
Eliminate the filibuster in the Senate;
Senators and Representatives should take NO political oath other than their oath of office;
Congress should enact NO law to which they are exempt.
If we can achieve INTEGRITY (and the appearance thereof) Congress can tackle the numerous difficult issues of the country.
